For more than 25 years, Terracon’s DC Metro West office has supported development across Northern Virginia with thoughtful consulting, clear communication, and a deep understanding of local conditions. Founded in 1999 and joining Terracon in 2017, our team blends the responsiveness of a local office with the technical strength, resources, and consistency of a national firm.

Additionally, our team brings specialized experience in karst assessments, having had direct involvement in the development of the ASTM standard for “Preliminary Karst Terrain Assessment for Site Development.” We help clients uncover challenges early and make informed decisions that save time and money.

With in‑house subject matter experts, laboratory capabilities, and experienced department leaders, many of whom began their careers at Terracon, we deliver consistency, continuity, and technical depth on every project. Our low turnover means clients often work with the same technicians and inspectors from project to project, building trust and improving efficiency.

We also invest in technology that adds real value. Electronic field logging and GPS‑enabled data collection allow project teams and clients to access subsurface information quickly, reducing delays and eliminating unnecessary data re‑entry. The result is fewer surprises and better outcomes.

DC Metro West is a Certified Virginia V3 Company and actively supports organizations and initiatives including Toys for Tots, CREW mentorship, ACEC DC, ASTM standards development, the Academies of Loudoun STEM program, Inova Blood Drives, and the Northern Virginia Science Center. Our team members are also engaged with local chambers of commerce, economic development groups, and planning and zoning committees throughout the region.
