Courses
Terracon has an established reputation as one of the strongest and most responsive IH services providers in the country, based on decades of experience and a wide variety of projects ranging from individual employee exposure evaluations to community-wide health research projects.
We have one of the largest occupational health and safety consulting groups in the country. Our team assists clients in addressing issues such as: What hazards are present in the workplace? How should these hazards be addressed? How must employers reduce worker risks? What legal, economic, and regulatory liabilities are present? How can a company improve the link between management and safety culture?
All courses will be administered in general accordance with TSCA Title II & LAC 33:III.2799 Appendix A as applicable.
(In English or Espanol) A 14-hour (2-day) program lead by an industry professional including in depth lectures, demonstrations, immersive hands-on training, course review, and a written examination. Subject matter included consists of the physical characteristics of asbestos, health effects of asbestos, personal protective equipment, state-of-the-art work practices, personal hygiene, additional safety hazards, medical monitoring, air monitoring, and applicable regulations.
An 8-hour course discussing changes in federal and state regulations, developments in state-of-the-art procedures, and a review of key aspects of the initial training course.
A 24-hour (3-day) program lead by an industry professional including in depth lectures, demonstrations, immersive hands-on training, course review, and a written examination. Subject matter included consists of physical characteristics of asbestos, the health effects of asbestos, function of inspectors, liability/defense, understanding of building systems, client/occupant communication, classification of materials, planning, regulatory review, sampling methodology, and record keeping. (High school diploma or equivalent shall be a prerequisite for admission to this course.)
An 4-hour course discussing changes in federal and state regulations, developments in state-of-the-art procedures, and a review of key aspects of the initial training course.
A 40-hour (5-day) program lead by an industry professional including in depth lectures, demonstrations, at least 14 training hours of hands-on training, course review, and a written examination. The supervisor’s training course will include the review of the physical characteristics of asbestos, potential health effects, PPE, state-of-the art work practices, personal hygiene, additional safety hazards, medical monitoring, air monitoring, regulatory review, respiratory protection and medical surveillance programs, insurance, record keeping, supervisory techniques, and contract specifications.
A 16-hour (2-day) program lead by an industry professional including lectures, demonstration, course review, and a written examination. The management planner training course will include the review of a management planner role, evaluation/interpretation of surveys, hazard assessment, legal implications, evaluation/selection of control options, roles of other professionals, developing Operations and Maintenance Programs (O&M), regulatory review, record keeping, management plan assembly, and financial analysis and cost estimation of abatement projects. (Possession of current and valid inspector accreditation shall be a prerequisite for admission to this course.)

A 24-hour (3-day) program lead by an industry professional including lectures, demonstrations, a field trip, course review, and a written examination. The project designer training course will include the review of asbestos and its background, potential health effects, abatement construction projects, Safety System Design Specifications, field trip, PPE, additional safety hazards, fiber aerodynamics and control, designing abatement solutions, final clearance process, budgeting/cost estimation, writing specifications, preparing abatement drawings, contract preparation and administration, legal/liabilities/defense, insurance, replacement, roles of other consultants, occupied buildings, and relevant regulatory requirements.
Up to an 8-hour program lead by an industry professional including in depth lectures and demonstrations regarding the health effects of asbestos, detection/assessment, options for control, asbestos management programs, and applicable regulations.
A 2-hour program lead by an industry professional including in depth lectures and demonstrations regarding asbestos and its use/forms, health effects of asbestos, information on asbestos within facilities that they work, recognition of damage of asbestos, and name and phone number of the designated person(s) for their facility.
In his 6 years of consulting, Steven has personally conducted and managed teams specializing in asbestos inspection, oversight, and air monitoring for small and large-scale demolition and redevelopment projects across Louisiana and Mississippi.
With over 16 years of asbestos consulting experience, Lem has amassed extensive experience in all phases of asbestos consulting. He has provided asbestos services of structures ranging from single family homes to high-rise buildings, hospitals, and schools.
With 14 years of experience, Jason has assisted in the development of multiple abatement design projects and oversight of abatement activities for the removal of asbestos-containing building materials and implementation of asbestos operations and maintenance plans.
