HCAI Facilities
Offices in the State Backed by National Resources
California’s Alfred E. Alquist Hospital Seismic Safety Act requires all general acute care hospitals to remain safe and fully operational after a major earthquake by Jan. 1, 2030. This mandate, overseen by the HCAI, sets rigorous standards for both structural and non-structural components of hospital buildings. Hospitals had to submit a Seismic Compliance Plan to HCAI by Jan. 1, 2026, outlining milestones and strategies to achieve full compliance by 2030.
