Roundtable Discussion

Expectations of the HUD NEPA Process

Friday, May 31, 2024 – 11 a.m. | Reunion Ballroom B Panelists: Jennifer Peters, Environmental Program Manager; Katherine Zayas, Senior Scientist; Kelly Warner, U.S. Housing and Urban Development – Region VI Field Environmental Officer

Preparing an Environmental Review Record can be a multi-step process. The steps are dependent upon the action and location. Imagine a federally-funded public housing facility requires renovations and a new parking lot; however the property is now located within a floodplain. The project does not directly impact the floodplain with the construction of housing. Funds can be used to renovate the building, though a covenant or land use restriction on the floodplain would be required. How does one navigate this?
During the course of the session, three NEPA practitioners who complete National Environmental Policy Act Environmental Review Records will share practical lessons learned concerning frequent resources impacted and mitigation strategies, expectations of schedules, and pitfalls. Learn more.
