EBJ Business Achievement Award

Diversity & Inclusion

Terracon was recognized for grounding diversity and inclusion in the company’s guiding behaviors: Terracon’s Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) have grown from three ERGs to six in 2023, with over 500 employee-owners engaged in one or more ERGs. “We are pleased to be recognized by EBJ for our core values, which include we treat everyone fairly and respectfully; we commit to inclusion; and we speak up for ourselves and others,” said Mike Hagemeister, P.E., director of Terracon’s environmental service line.

CCBJ Business Achievement Award

Advancing Best Practices: GHG Mitigation

Terracon was recognized for helping its upstream oil and gas clients voluntarily avoid 16,206 metric tons (mt) of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) from natural gas-driven pneumatic controllers. Terracon used a technology-driven approach to collect accurate field data to calculate lower site-specific emissions rates. The firm recommended cost-effective best practices by highlighting opportunities to reduce emissions, and in some cases developed a GHG Benchmarking and Sustainability Report to support clients’ sustainability goals. “Terracon strives to deliver innovative solutions to meet our clients’ sustainability needs. We are excited to be recognized for this significant effort,” said Lori Cathcart, director of corporate sustainability for Terracon.

Mergers and Acquisitions Award

Terracon for acquiring 15 firms over the past five years, and 13 focused on environmental services, adding 35 offices, $90 million in revenue and 600 new employee-owners. In 2023, Terracon acquired Arkansas-based Pollution Management Inc. (PMI) and its 37-member team of engineers, geologists, environmental scientists, and construction/remediation specialists to enhance turnkey and self-performing remediation and industrial projects across Arkansas. PMI was Terracon’s second acquisition in 2023 after Ferguson Risk Management, and its 19th acquisition since the beginning of 2017.
