Ohio River Trenchless Project

As part of the HAM-75-1.05 and HAM-75-1.95 Projects, a stormwater trunk sewer (HAM-75-1.25) is proposed in an urban corridor adjacent to the reconfiguration of I-75 between Gest Street and the Western Hills Viaduct for the Brent Spence Bridge Project. The approximately 7,600-linear-foot-long trunk sewer will connect to the East Branch Ohio River Interceptor (EBORI) that is operated by the Metropolitan Sewer District of Greater Cincinnati (MSDGC). The new trunk sewer is currently planned to vary from 78 to 48 inches in diameter with the majority of the alignment to be constructed with microtunneling techniques.

Terracon conducted geotechnical exploration services for this project, which have involved new borings specifically for the trunk sewer and review/compilation of numerous historic borings from the previous geotechnical studies in this corridor. Additionally, with this project being pursued by the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) as design-build, Terracon is engaged as the owner’s representative for this project, providing trenchless design services including the preparation of a feasibility report, preliminary design report, geotechnical baseline report, and bid documents.
