PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) has been at the forefront of environmental regulation headlines since the Environmental Protection Agencyโs (EPA) April 2024 final ruling that added the most common PFAS to the nationally enforceable drinking water standard.
PFAS is nothing new for Terracon. Our subject matter experts have been working on PFAS-related projects since 2006, advising clients and performing source delineation and sampling services. As the landscape around these hazardous chemicals keeps changing, we can partner with you, bringing nearly two decades of experience to help guide you through your PFAS journey.
Terraconโs PFAS team has helped a range of clients meet their PFAS-related project needs for facilities including:
With the new EPA rulings in place, PFAS source delineation will take on a higher level of importance. Terracon led a team (that included our partners at GSI Environmental and Mead & Hunt) in co-authoring a 2023 research project published by the National Academy of Science, Engineering, and Medicine: โPFAS Source Differentiation Guide for Airports.โ
While the study was conducted specifically for airports, we can assist a wide range of businesses with PFAS source delineation services. Understanding the PFAS use history of both a particular site and the area surrounding it is essential to the PFAS journey. We combine site information with local knowledge to help clients ascertain their true PFAS risk.
The ability to identify PFAS sources is necessary to understand cost allocation and liability. We can help clients understand when and/or how their projects might be impacted by PFAS in light of the EPAโs rulings. Federal regulations are just one piece of the puzzle. Our national network of environmental professionals is familiar with varying state and local regulations to help clients navigate every level of compliance.
No matter where youโre at on your PFAS journey, we help clients understand where they are and help them get where they want to be. Letโs find answers to your PFAS questions!
Our team of experts is ready to assist you with your project needs.
We love building our communities and across the country - these stories represent some of our best endeavors.
