Terracon Names Jon Lohse National Manager of Cultural Resource Management Services

HOUSTON – Terracon, a leading national consulting engineering firm comprised of engineers, scientists, architects, facilities experts, and field professionals, announces Jon Lohse, Ph.D., has been named national manager of cultural resource management services. Lohse’s promotion supports substantial growth in demand for services for cultural resource management nationally.

After joining Terracon in 2018, Lohse most recently served as manager of environmental planning and permitting in the company’s Houston office. With more than 30 years of experience working as a consulting archaeologist and environmental project manager, Lohse has overseen projects ranging from simple desktop assessments to complex data recoveries. He has practical experience in designing innovative strategies for helping clients to meet their compliance obligations under state and federal regulations, and has worked with local municipalities, state agencies, private developers, and private land owners.

“Jon’s depth of technical expertise, leadership experience, business acumen, client relationship approach, and understanding of how cultural resources supports our clients’ projects make him the right person to lead this growing national practice,” said Mike Hagemeister, P.E., Terracon national director of environmental services. “This role reflects our commitment to building a strong, consistent cultural resources capability that supports safe, sustainable, and profitable growth.”

Lohse earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in anthropology and religion from Trinity University, and a Master of Arts and doctorate in anthropology from The University of Texas at Austin. He has published over 40 papers, chapters, and journal articles in peer-review outlets, and has five edited volumes published by different university presses in the United States. Additionally, Lohse has delivered over 80 presentations at local, regional, national, and international conferences, symposia, and congresses. He has authored or contributed to hundreds of cultural resource management reports.
