Terracon Foundation Awards More Than $145,000 in University and Community Grants

OLATHE, Kan. – The Terracon Foundation today announced the award of $145,750 in grants and scholarships to 12 universities and 24 nonprofit organizations throughout the U.S. That brings to nearly $6 million the amount that Terracon Foundation has awarded to community organizations, universities, disaster relief, and employee matching contributions since it was established in 2008.

“In order to make meaningful change the Terracon Foundation has a focus on three areas that align with our company’s mission and values – education, the built and natural environment, and equity,” said Derek Koller, CIH, CHMM, chair of the Terracon Foundation and operations manager of the company’s Tucson office. “The Foundation works with our employee-owners in making the awards, helping them to invest in the local students, organizations, and programs that matter to them.”

The Terracon Foundation presented a total of $80,500 to 12 universities:

  • California State University, Fullerton (CSUF), Fullerton, California
  • College of the Ozarks, Point Lookout, Missouri
  • Engineers Without Borders at University of Colorado – Boulder, Boulder, Colorado
  • Engineers Without Borders at University of California – Davis, Davis, California
  • FAMU-FSU College of Engineering, Tallahassee, Florida
  • Johnson County Community College, Overland Park, Kansas
  • Shippensburg University, Shippensburg, Pennsylvania
  • University of Arizona, Tucson, Arizona
  • University of Colorado – Boulder, Boulder, Colorado
  • University of Illinois, Urbana, Illinois
  • University of Washington, Seattle, Washington
  • Wake Technical Community College, Raleigh, North Carolina

The Terracon Foundation awarded $65,250 in community grants to 24 nonprofit organizations:

  • American Society of Civil Engineers Chapter at Kennesaw State University, Marietta, Georgia

  • CREW Network Foundation, Lawrence, Kansas
  • Friends of Placerville Fire Inc., Placerville, Idaho
  • GeorgiaFIRST Robotics, Inc., Cumming, Georgia
