Federal projects reveal unique challenges most civilians never see

Senior engineer Chris Caton is always up for getting to know his clients better and how they like to work. While on a geotechnical project at an Italian Naval Activity Station, he joined the team each morning for a “caffé” and chat about the day’s activities. Closer to home, his relationship skills contribute to critical federal projects from hospital ships to airfield hangars. Read more about Chris.

Important update for clients on CMMC Level 1 and 2 compliance

Terracon is Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) Level 1 compliant at multiple office locations and is expanding coverage through self-assessments and implementation of all 15 required practices for handling Federal Contract Information (FCI).

We are also advancing toward CMMC Level 2 at additional strategic office locations, with many of the 110 NIST SP 800-171 controls already in place. Preparations for third-party certification (C3PAO) are underway to support contracts involving Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), with full compliance targeted in early 2026.

The transition from civilian to military life comes with several weeks of training. Returning to civilian life can be just as disorienting — and with far fewer resources.

Helping veterans transition to the private workforce with confidence is the mission behind several initiatives at Terracon. Our VetNet Employee Resource Group connects new veteran employees with a strong, veteran-friendly community and a “battle buddy” mentor to guide their journey. We partner with the Disabled American Veterans, RecruitMilitary Career Fairs, the American Legion, and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Learn more here.
