Terracon's work on the Jane Byrne interchange in Chicago

Solving the geotechnical challenges on America’s busiest highway interchange

Working around and through underground utilities, historic tunnels, commuter train tunnels, and a 40-foot thick layer of native clay, Wang Engineering, A Terracon Company, navigated a complex subsurface to help rebuild Chicago’s Jane Byrne Interchange. Drilling more than 350 borings (to extract soil and bedrock samples from the ground below the interchange), working around the clock to meet noise ordinance and traffic requirements, and reviewing contractor design drawings at the request of the City of Chicago made our team a trusted, essential partner on this landmark project. Here’s how.

Chester Bridge in Chester, Ill
Terracon used the digital IDR while working on the Chester Bridge project in Chester, Ill.

So long, paper: digital data eliminates paper in daily work and makes your job easier in alternate delivery

The documentation and transparency of materials delivery and inspection on alternative delivery projects is essential. But a hard paper copy of forms like an Inspectors Daily Report (IDR) no longer is. Our digitized process makes the data both easier to enter and easier to access. Take a look.
