Terracon's Austin office was originally founded as HBC Engineering in February 1994, and then acquired by Terracon in December 1998. The office has more than 50 engineers, geologists, scientists, and technicians. All of the department managers in the Austin office have been with Terracon between 12 and 16 years. Our services include geotechnical engineering, construction materials engineering and testing, and environmental consulting.

Advanced Micro Devices CampusGeolocation: 30.2672, -97.7431

Terracon provided the geotechnical engineering and construction materials testing and inspection services for the new $320 Million Campus in Southwest Austin. Terracon was recommended to AMD by the Staubach Company, and another local developer. The project included four office buildings totaling 860,000 square feet, along with three parking garages on 58 acres which incorporates the latest in green building techniques and materials. The campus achieved a LEED Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.

Terracon provided construction materials engineering and testing services for State Highway 45, part of TxDOT's Central Texas Turnpike Project. This involves building almost 68 miles of toll roads in the Austin area at a proposed cost of $3.2 billion. Terracon is a member of the Construction Management team, led by PBS&J, responsible for all quality assurance testing of soil, concrete and asphalt materials. W Hotel and High-Rise CondominiumGeolocation: 30.2672, -97.7431

Terracon provided a Phase I environmental site assessment, a Phase II subsurface site investigation, the geotechnical engineering and construction materials engineering and testing services for the development of the 37-story W Hotel and high-rise condominium. Analysis of the groundwater collected from the site showed concentrations of the dry cleaning solvent, tetrachloroethylene (PCE) from off-site activities. Terracon in turn prepared Innocent Owner Program (IOP) documentation on behalf of the owner for the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, obtained a storm water discharge…
