W Hotel and High-Rise CondominiumGeolocation: 30.2672, -97.7431

Terracon provided a Phase I environmental site assessment, a Phase II subsurface site investigation, the geotechnical engineering and construction materials engineering and testing services for the development of the 37-story W Hotel and high-rise condominium. Analysis of the groundwater collected from the site showed concentrations of the dry cleaning solvent, tetrachloroethylene (PCE) from off-site activities. Terracon in turn prepared Innocent Owner Program (IOP) documentation on behalf of the owner for the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, obtained a storm water discharge permit through the TCEQ, and assisted with design of a granular activated carbon treatment system to treat contaminated groundwater pumped from the subgrade parking garage. The W development includes 159 luxury residential units, 252 hotel guestrooms and suites, 18,000 sq. ft. of retail and restaurant space, 37,000 sq. ft. of office space and a street level plaza.
