Former Metal Plating Facility Site Characterization and RemediationGeolocation: 34.15, -114.2891

The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) issued a Notice of Violation (NOV) to the business owner and operator of a metal plating facility in 2007. The property owner selected Terracon to perform site characterization activities around the facility and in the warehouse where the former plating line pit was located. The lateral and vertical extent of hexavalent chromium, used in the plating process, produced the contamination in the soil which was defined by Terracon's environmental group. Terracon then developed a remedial action plan.

During the project, Terracon worked with the property owner's attorney to transfer the ADEQ oversight from Solid Waste Enforcement to the Voluntary Remediation Program (VRP).
