SUMMARY:International Petroleum Environmental Conference (IPEC) 2019
DESCRIPTION:JOIN US for IPEC\n\n\n \nVisit booth 113 to meet our team!\nOctober 7-9\, 2019\nSan Antonio\, Texas\n\n\nThe requirements of designing and building long\, multi-state linear projects is complex. Our experienced scientists and engineers can help you navigate local and state environmental regulations. With more than 4\,500 employees and 150 offices nationwide\, we have the resources and expertise to support your next project. \n\n\nPresentationS:\nRapid Assessment and Remediation of A Refined Product Release to soil and Groundwater (laBelle\, Texas)\nAttendees will be guided through the approach Terracon took after a release from a refined product pipeline. We performed a rapid assessment of impacted soil and groundwater using a combination of hydro punch and mobile gas chromatography (GC) lab. Once adequately assessed\, impacted soil was remediated primarily by mass removal. Residual soil that remained was treated leading to reductions below protective concentration levels (PCLs) and regulatory closure for the soil issue.\nPrimary Author / Conference Presenter: Arun Neupane\, Terracon Consultants\, Inc.\, Houston\, Texas\nInnovative Techniques for Site Characterization and Remediation of Brine Impacted Soils\n\n\nBrine impacted soils can be returned to productive farmland within months compared to current in-situ remediation techniques that can take up to ten years. New techniques can reduce the costs of remediation by decreasing the testing\, transportation\, and disposal of impacted soils.\n\n\nPrimary Author / Conference Presenter: John Ellingson\, Terracon Consultants\, Inc.\, Fargo\, N.D.\nBuilding Useful Conceptual Site Models Using 3D Modeling Technology\n\n\nParticipants will learn how CSMs\, built using 3D modeling technology\, helped to quantify and explain the spatial distribution of contamination in the subsurface at four different sites.  Understanding the distribution of the contaminants (as well as the associated geologic environment) is often the key to a timely\, cost-effective\, and successful remediation.  Multiple types of field-collected data will be presented – analytical data from laboratory reports\, geologic data from borings logs\, groundwater elevations from gauging events\, and high-resolution data from the latest site characterization tools.\n\n\nPrimary Author / Conference Presenter: Jim Depa\, Terracon Consultants\, Inc.\, Downers Grove\, Ill.\n\nCo-Author: Ron St. John\, Terracon Consultants\, Inc.\, Downers Grove\, Ill.\n\nContact Us\nMike Adams\n\n\nNational Program Manager Oil and Gas Services \nFort Collins\, Colo. \nMichael.Adams@terracon.com \n(970) 658-4388 \n\n\n\nDan Schneider\n\n\n\n\nVice President\, National Director \nSite Investigation and Remediation \nWheat Ridge\, Colo. \nDan.Schneider@terracon.com \n(303) 454-5247 \n\nArun Neupane\n\n\n\nSenior Scientist\, Environmental Services \nHouston\, Texas \nArun.Neupane@terracon.com \n(713) 939-6465 \n\nRonald St. John\, PHG\, CPG\n\n\n\nPrincipal Hydrologist\, Environmental Services \nDowners Grove\, Ill. \nRon.St.John@terracon.com\nJonathan Ellingson\, P.G.\, CPG\n\n\n\nOffice Manager\, Principal \nWest Fargo\, N.D. \nJon.Ellingson@terracon.com\n\n(701) 356-7616\nJim Depa\n\n\n\n\nSenior Project Manager \nDowners Grove\, Ill. \nJim.Depa@terracon.com\n\n(630) 427-8112\nJohn Juenger\, P.E.\n\n\n\nVice President\, Senior Principal \nHouston\, Texas \nJohn.Juenger@terracon.com\n\n(713) 329-2554\n\n\n\n \n\n\nLearn More About Terracon’s Oil and Gas Services\n\nEnvironmental Services\n\n Remedial Design and Implementation\n Environmental Site Assessments and Investigations\n Natural and Cultural Resources

SUMMARY:Ohio Transportation Engineering Conference (OTEC) 2019
DESCRIPTION:JOIN US for OTECH 2019\n\nOctober 29-30\, 2019\nGreater Columbus Convention Center\n\n\n\nTerracon is transforming the way you think about geotechnical conditions during site-selection and due diligence. Stage1\, issued through our collaborative web-based platform\, GeoReport®\, allows you to access site-specific data earlier than ever before. \n\n\nLearn more at our booth!\n\nPresentations\n\n\n\nToday’s Connectivity: Using Historic Data to Anticipate Future Risk\nTuesday\, October 29\, 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.\n\n\nWhat lies beneath the surface of any given site? Risk. Specifically\, the risk associated with unknown conditions during project conception and initial design. Unanticipated subsurface conditions have the potential to force delays and cost overruns on even the best-managed and well-executed projects.\n\nIn this digital era\, mitigating risk associated with subsurface exploration and unanticipated subsurface conditions during construction is a top priority. Utilizing processes for compiling and managing data\, and GIS methods to analyze and present site data along with historical subsurface information\, we can ultimately lower risk for the entire project team.\n\nHow does it work? Consider for more than a century geotechnical professionals have meticulously documented the location and conditions encountered in hundreds of thousands of subsurface borings. We are utilizing the power of GIS-processing in conjunction with this library of historical subsurface information to more efficiently set through exploration scope development\, project feasibility studies\, site selection\, and preliminary budgeting.\n\nDigitizing the historical subsurface information creates a catalyst for an interactive\, web-based platform that combines the publicly available information and collected data\, and culminates with the invaluable opinion of a local\, experienced geotechnical engineer. This connectivity aids in the reduction of risks associated with unknown conditions on prospective project sites\, and for our valuable team members.\n\nBy using past information to better understand the present\, we are developing smarter work scopes and able to more efficiently anticipate subsurface conditions.\n\n\n\nUsing Today’s Technology for Enhanced Inspection Tools and Results\nWednesday\, October 30\, 10:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.\n\n\nTerracon has developed technical workflows to enhance accuracy\, collaboration\, and transparency to the inspection and verification of materials and workmanship on construction projects.\n\nThe technical workflows known as TargetID (Terracon Acquisition & Reporting of Geospatial Engineering\, Testing & Inspection Data)\, provides a unique blend of traditional and web GIS tools to support real-time sharing and tracking of data.\n\nThrough the use of hand-held devices\, inspectors in the field are capable of performing numerous tasks.\n\nThis includes knowing where they are in relation to the project; as they see themselves standing on the project site plans.  They can locate and log test locations\, measure and delineate areas that are representative of the test results as well as enter and upload test results and georeferenced pictures.  They can also access historical test information\, such as non-conforming results.\n\nTargetID also produces unique materials test reports\, that includes not just the standard material test results\, but can also include a graphic location of the test showing where on the plan the test was taken\, the representative area for the test\, and photos related to the test.\n\nThe use of GPS to locate the test eliminates the occasional data entry error and allows the inspector to “see” the station and location of where he is standing.\n\nTo further enhance collaboration\, Terracon leverages a combination of ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Online to support our technical workflows and create interactive GIS content in a web browser; which can be shared with clients and owners to show in real-time as tests are completed\, their location and their results.\n\nIt places the project with all the pertinent data right at the fingertips of the project manager.  The ability to provide access to this information further enhances collaboration through immediate notifications when test results are not as expected.\n\n \n\n \n\n\nTransparency and Flexibility in Material Testing Data Reporting\nWednesday\, October 30\, 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. \n\n\nThe ability to share data quickly and efficiently is becoming more and more critical in today’s construction industry. It is equally important to be flexible to work with multiple systems\, users and clients. To that end Terracon has developed iTrams. iTrams is Terracon’s new proprietary software developed to reduce paper\, expedite workflow\, and distribute and display material test results quickly and easily. iTrams is cloud-based allowing multiple users\, clients\, and owners to quickly access\, approve and view test results. The software has purposefully been developed to a 90% complete stage allowing for the final 10% to be customized to a particular project or owner’s needs. It is also infinitely flexible\, allowing who performs what task\, who can edit\, tests\, workflow\, and even button names to be changed as required. Notifications can also be set to various thresholds allowing who is notified when to be changed and adjusted as needed. Test results can be viewed as soon as they are entered in the field or later depending on the owner’s or client’s needs and desires. Additionally\, test results can be viewed as trends allowing issues to be resolved and identified before impacting a project’s schedule. With the data at the entire team’s fingertips\, discrepancies and non-conforming test results can be quickly and easily resolved. This collaboration is critical in today’s construction market\, and having the information in the cloud simply makes everyone’s jobs that much easier.\n\n.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nContact Us\nMichael Jenkins\n\n\n\nNational Director\, Transportation \nConstruction Quality Services\n(512) 358-9886 \n\nTracey Grover\nManager Regional Services \n(623) 474-9188 \n\nMike Frawley\nAssistant National Manager \n(919) 436-2987 \n\nLearn More About Terracon’s  Transportation Services
