SAN ANTONIO, Texas — The Terracon Foundation recently awarded a university grant in the amount of $10,000 to the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). The funds will be used to support graduate student fellowships for civil and environmental engineering research.
The Terracon Foundation university grants support graduate-level scholarships, fellowships, purchase of equipment, and similar programs in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, based on employee recommendations.
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering Department is committed to providing a learning environment which encourages discovery and advancement for the betterment of its students and the community. Through its research, public service, and instructional programs, the department seeks to serve the needs of San Antonio and South Texas, by providing educational and research opportunities which will contribute to the technological and economic development of the region.
Laura Campa, P.E., from Terracon’s San Antonio office, is an alumnus of the University and championed the grant. Drew Johnson, Ph.D., P.E., associate professor, civil and environmental engineering at UTSA, proudly accepted the grant.
“UTSA is grateful for the donation from the Terracon Foundation. The grant will increase the accessibility of research opportunities in civil and environmental engineering to our students, who remain our highest priority,” said Johnson.
The Terracon Foundation, established in 2008, also provides a broad range of grants to employee-championed community organizations, employee-dependent scholarships, and an annual national partner grant.
