Olathe, Kan. and Fairfax, Va. – The ACE Mentor Program was awarded a $50,000 grant from the Terracon Foundation to help underwrite a national best practices conference for its 69 affiliates that provide free after school programs designed to reach high school students and encourage them to pursue careers in architecture, engineering, and construction.
Speaking about the National Partnership award, David R. Gaboury, P.E., President and CEO of Terracon, said, “We are very pleased to support the Ace Mentor Program. Its purpose and track record of success is contributing greatly to the future.”
The ACE conference will convene in Chicago on June 22-23. It is the first national gathering of affiliate leaders and mentors since 2008. They will share and discuss best practices related to fundraising, board development, and mentor recruitment, among other topics.
“ACE is honored to receive this generous grant,” said John Strock, ACE’s Executive Director. “ACE enjoys partnerships with many of the leading companies in the design/construction industry. We are delighted to add Terracon as an ACE supporter.”
Strock also noted, “ACE and Terracon operate branches and affiliates in many of the same locations. We hope to attract more Terracon employees to join the ranks of our 2,500 active mentors.”
