Staff members from Terracon’s Pharr office enjoyed the 2013 Building Communities Conference at South Padre Island on September 27-28. The Pharr office attends this conference every year as it is the largest show that brings all of their clients to one place. It’s an educational and fun-filled event, and the Pharr office provides fresh popcorn and other attractions that always entice attendees to the booth. Because attendees from around the region are there to earn their CEUs, the Pharr office is dedicated to having someone from the company present at the conference every year. This year, Alton G. Rogers, P.E., from Terracon’s College Station office, presented on Methodogies of Sustainable Pavements.
The conference began on a Thursday with a tour that examined an array of sites embodying the rich architectural heritage of the lower Rio Grande border. On Friday and Saturday, the Building Communities Conference and Expo attracted architects, contractors, engineers, interior designers, planners, and landscape architects from Texas and beyond. Attendees of this conference come for three reasons: to learn new trends, to network, and to have fun. They were advised to pack shorts and flip flops, bring family, and business associates, and enjoy a fun-filled beach weekend.
