Terracon designed the corrective action plans and remediation systems to remediate a wildlife refuge lake that has been impacted by waterfowl. Water is pumped from the lake and utilized for crop irrigation. Plans included the removal and/or treatment of lake sludge in the Fall of 2010, that is now utilized as crop fertilizer where applicable. The project incorporated native vegetation and lake shoreline bioengineering stabilization techniques. To assess the conditions of the lake, Terracon performed soil, groundwater, surface water, and macroinvertebrate sampling to determine the chemical and biological baseline conditions of the lake.
