Terracon performed the geotechnical exploration and made foundation recommendations for spread footings. The footing design was critical because of the presence of old fill soils which had to be identified and then either undercut to suitable adequate bearing soils or the foundation piers extended to the bearing layer. Terracon provided construction materials testing and Special Inspection services during the construction phase of the project. These services included observations and testing of soils, concrete, reinforced masonry, structural steel, and pavements. During the project, Terracon provided materials testing of recycled bricks that were used to veneer the stadium. These bricks were recycled from nearby demolished textile mills so that the stadium would match the surrounding buildings in the area. Simultaneously, Terracon also provided geotechnical engineering and construction materials testing and Special Inspection services for a mid-rise office building that overlooks the Green Monster wall.
