Terracon is currently performing geotechnical services, asbestos abatement and air monitoring, construction materials engineering and testing and Special Inspections. The Wake County Justice Center is set to be a 595,625 square feet structure consisting of eleven stories with two levels of below grade parking. Building construction of the two below grade parking levels will consist of reinforced concrete columns, slabs, beams, shear walls, and perimeter foundation walls. Building construction for the eleven above ground stories will consist of structural steel framing utilizing lightweight concrete slabs placed over composite metal deck spanning between composite steel beams. The project site is located north of the existing public safety center in Raleigh bordered by Martin Street to the north, McDowell Street to the west, and Salisbury Street to the east. The building is planned to be LEED accredited.
