Terracon was selected by Salem Leasing Corporation to clean up the truck leasing and maintenance facility in Columbia, SC. The environmental remediation contract was funded by the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (SCDHEC) under the SUPERB pay-for-performance (PFP) program. The site was subsequently purchased in 2006 by the University of South Carolina (USC) for the development of a new baseball stadium complex. The scope of work included Corrective Action Plan/Engineering Report preparation, UST abandonment, ground water remediation, site monitoring and reporting, and project closure. Seven underground storage tanks (USTs) had previously been abandoned at the site, and one diesel UST was still in use at the start of remediation.
