Law School Terracon provided construction materials observation and testing services on the University of Memphis Law School in downtown Memphis. The project consisted of the addition of 12" thick shear walls throughout the building originating in the basement and extending to the third level. The shear wall design required drilling and epoxying of dowels into existing masonry and concrete walls with placement of reinforced shotcrete. The project also consisted of new footings, elevated slabs, structural steel, exterior pavement slabs, and the relocation of underground utilities. Services include: observation and testing of drilled dowels; shotcrete placement observation and testing, shallow foundation observations; nuclear density-compaction testing; laboratory testing and evaluation of soils; field and laboratory evaluation of concrete; aggregate base testing; field masonry observation and testing; structural steel and weld inspections; nelson stud testing; and fire-proofing installation observation and testing.
