The City of Overland Park, Kansas has plans for the construction of a public flood control project to reduce flooding and benefit various properties adjacent to a subdivision in southern Johnson County. The improvements consist of storm sewer improvements consisting of excavation, storm sewer and inlet installation, grade control measures, roadway repairs, restoration, utility relocation, retaining wall construction, design and inspection, and easement acquisition. These improvements replace the existing natural channel and remove the adjacent areas from the 100-year floodplain.   Terracon was retained to perform materials testing for storm drainage improvements from 151st Street to Metcalf Avenue. We performed materials testing services for aggregates, asphalt concretes, and concrete on an on-call basis. Terracon was selected based on our ability to provide several Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) certified personnel to perform the work, and our ability to respond quickly to any last-minute projects changes.
