Ryan Companies partnered with Sears to develop a multi-purpose family entertainment, cultural, and sports center. Terracon conducted geotechnical explorations and construction materials engineering and testing for the site. Subsurface exploration for the multi-purpose arena consisted of eight soil borings that extended to depths of approximately 30 to 59 feet below the existing ground surface. Construction observation and testing services consisted of soil observation and compaction testing, foundation testing, reinforcing steel observation, concrete, masonry mortar and grout testing, and structural steel examination. Terracon personnel were on-site daily to observe procedures and perform tests on materials. Concrete, mortar, and grout were transported to Terracon's laboratory after field curing for compressive strength testing as well as checking for conformance with approved plans and specifications.
