Rockefeller Group Development Corporation (RGDC) and its joint-venture partner, MeadWestvaco Corporation's (MWV) Community Development and Land Management Group, are developing four buildings containing approximately 2.7 million square feet of distribution space on 400 acres of industrial land near the I-26/Jedburg Road interchange in Berkeley County, S.C. Terracon was selected to provide geotechnical engineering and instrumentation, surcharge, materials engineering and testing, Special Inspections, and LEED certification. Based on the results of Terracon's geotechnical investigation, a surcharge program was recommended for the site. Terracon provided geotechnical instrumentation and installation, as well as geotechnical field oversight during the surcharge/preload monitoring program. Terracon also conducted indoor air quality testing and LEED-enhanced commissioning services for the LEED Silver certified, single-story warehouse structure with a footprint of approximately 1.1 million square feet.

Terracon's Charleston, S.C., office was originally known as Wright Padgett Christopher when it was founded in 1993 by William (Bill) Wright, P.E. He was later joined by William (Reg) Christopher, P.E., who eventually became President and CEO.
