Terracon provided geotechnical and construction materials engineering and testing services for the construction of an approximately 90,000-square-foot, 2-story recreation center, and natatorium for the City of Pearland, Texas. Geotechnical engineering services included field and laboratory programs to evaluate the subsurface conditions and material properties of the soils. Geotechnical reports were submitted which addressed the design of the building foundation, swimming pool requirements, and pavement recommendations. Construction materials engineering and testing services were performed for excavation, grading operations, building subgrade and building pad construction, pool excavation, drilled underreamed pier foundation system, concrete slab on grade, masonry walls, structural steel framing, pavement sub-grade preparation and treatment, and utility installation, including backfill observation and testing. Terracon utilized their proprietary Laboratory Management System to successfully prepare and track all field reports, invoices, and budgetary costs on a daily basis.
