Terracon was contracted by the City of Charlotte through a quality-based selection process to provide geotechnical, shear wave velocity profiling, construction materials engineering and testing, and Special Inspections services for the NASCAR® Hall of Fame project. Beginning in July 2006, Terracon performed geotechnical investigations and shear wave velocity profiling for the Hall of Fame and the adjacent NASCAR® Office Tower to evaluate the subsurface conditions and profile of bedrock. Terracon also provided the design for the soil-nail and shotcrete shoring wall and retaining wall systems for the excavation bid package and performed pre-blast surveys and rock blasting attenuation studies. Our Special Inspection and testing services included shoring wall construction inspection, foundation and footing inspections, reinforced concrete and post-tensioned concrete placement testing and concrete compressive strength testing, pre-cast concrete fabrication and erection inspections, structural steel fabrication and erection inspections, and fire-proofing testing and inspection.
