Terracon was selected to perform geotechnical exploration and construction materials engineering and testing for the Mayfair Woods project located in Wauwatosa, Wis. Terracon provided the testing and observation services for the construction of the approximately 170,000 square-foot, four-story office building and approximate 68,000 square foot, three-level parking garage.
The geotechnical exploration was conducted in an environmentally-protected area over sloping terrain. Variable soil conditions were encountered and foundation recommendations considered support on all potential bearing materials. Pressuremeter testing was also included to optimize design foundation bearing pressures.
Terracon performed observation and testing during the mass grading phase which involved cuts and fills ranging from about 3-10 feet in the areas of the building pad and parking garage.
