Terracon provided subsurface exploration and geotechnical engineering services for the ethanol production plant in Mitchell County, Ga. The plant has a planned production capacity of 100 million gallons per year. The project included a DDG storage building, grain receiving structure, tank farm, fire water/process water storage tank, cooling tower, water treatment building, wet cake storage slab, an energy center, process building, a distillation area, fermentation tanks, beer well tank, an office building, and storage silos. Construction material engineering and testing services included observation of site stripping, and engineer fill placement, concrete testing, shallow foundation observations, and laboratory testing of fill soils.
