Terracon was selected by a confidential client to conduct an environmental compliance audit of its waste treatment, storage, and transfer facility in Oklahoma. The facility was regulated under a hazardous waste permit with unique and complicated requirements. The client selected Terracon based on our audit personnel’s extensive experience and background in environmental regulatory compliance services. As part of this service, two of Terracon’s senior regulatory compliance personnel conducted a site visit, reviewed documents, observed site operations, and interviewed personnel. Terracon evaluated waste water treatment; loading and unloading; hazardous and non-hazardous waste storage; and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning. The environmental compliance audit focused on the hazardous waste requirements, but also evaluated the facility’s general compliance with various other federal and state environmental regulations including air permits, spill prevention control and countermeasures (SPCC) plans, waste water permits, Tier II reports, and contingency plans. Terracon compiled the results of the environmental compliance audit into a compliance assessment report that was provided to the client and their legal counsel. As a result of the environmental compliance audit, Terracon identified deficiencies that needed correction. Terracon also assisted the client in correcting some of these deficiencies.
