During 2007, IHI was selected by Vanir Construction Management to perform industrial hygiene consulting services on the multi-phase Highland Hospital Acute Tower Replacement Project. IHI also supported Vanir during renovation activities at the Fairmont Hospital in San Leandro, which created extra space for personnel displaced during renovation projects on the Highland Hospital Campus.

RGA Environmental, a Terracon company, (RGA/Terracon) conducted soil testing of the stormwater basin at the Dinuba Service Center corporate yard. Prior to planned excavation, three soil samples were collected while the drainage pond was dry to characterize the soil. Boreholes were advanced to a depth of 5 feet below the bottom of the pond at each end of the pond using a power auger and/or slide hammer. During 2009, IHI conducted a campus-wide asbestos survey for the VAMC. This survey identified asbestos in 22 buildings that covered over 600,000 square feet of building space. During the investigation, IHI collected over 3,000 asbestos bulk samples for laboratory analysis. In order to organize and track the large amounts of information generated by the survey (i.e. material types, sample locations, and project notes), IHI survey teams utilized a state-of-the-art asbestos survey database. RGA Environmental, A Terracon Company provided regulated environmental consulting services for the $66 million major renovation of the historic Stanley Mosk Library and Courts building. The project involved complete replacement of the mechanical system, fire/life/safety upgrades, roof repair, waterproofing, structural improvements, and restoration of historic features while achieving a LEED accreditation. California's Department of General Services managed the four-year renovation.

This $4.5-billion project will replace San Francisco's former Transbay Terminal with a modern regional transportation hub connecting eight Bay Area counties and serving 11 transit systems. The Temporary Terminal, named Transportation Project of the Year in 2011 by the San Francisco Bay Area Institute of Engineers, serves approximately 20,000 commuters per day while the Transbay Transit Center is under construction.
