The Naperville office opened in 1989 as an environmental office, and in 1990 expanded to include geotechnical and materials testing. Now, the Naperville office offers geotechnical, environmental, industrial hygiene, and construction materials engineering and testing services.The laboratory is certified with IDOT and with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. In 2006, the Naperville office expanded and opened the downtown Chicago office.

Ryan Companies partnered with Sears to develop a multi-purpose family entertainment, cultural, and sports center. Terracon conducted geotechnical explorations and construction materials engineering and testing for the site.

Subsurface exploration for the multi-purpose arena consisted of eight soil borings that extended to depths of approximately 30 to 59 feet below the existing ground surface.

Ragnar Benson Construction (RBC) was awarded the design-build contract to construct the $370-million, 785-acre Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) Joliet Intermodal Terminal. The UPRR Intermodal Terminal is incorporated within the $2-billion, 3,900-acre CenterPoint Intermodal Logistics Center. Terracon's services included evaluation of subgrade, density testing of fill soils and aggregate base, field and laboratory testing of concrete, construction materials engineering and testing of appurtenant buildings and structures, and coordination of GPS and mobile lab reporting procedures.…
