The office was opened to expand our services further south into the Kentucky market where many of our employees have family and educational ties. In 2007, HCN joined Terracon after serving the Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, and West Virginia areas since 1921.

Eastern State Psychiatric HospitalGeolocation: 38.0317, -84.4951
This project involves the replacement of the Psychiatric Care Facility for Eastern State Hospital. The new facility is nestled on 30 acres located at the University of Kentucky Coldstream Research Park located off Newtown Pike in Lexington, Ky. The hospital campus consists of the main building, four patient care homes, central utility plant, and walking paths. H. C. Nutting, A Terracon Company, was contracted to provide the Special Inspections and also construction materials testing and inspection.
Kentucky 389 Slide RepairGeolocation: 38.6748, -85.0649
H. C. Nutting, A Terracon Company, was retained to provide construction materials inspection and quality control services for a proposed tieback retaining wall. This project was part of a permanent retaining system along the southern side of existing KY 389 near I-71 South. The landslide occurred due to creep movement of colluvium soils overlaying bedrock.
The project also included installation of instrumentation for monitoring purposes. Inclinometers and load cells were installed at various tiebacks.

H. C. Nutting, A Terracon Company, has provided geotechnical studies and construction testing and inspection services for this project on the University of Kentucky Campus in Lexington, Ky., since 2005. The project includes a new parking garage, multi-story hospital expansion, and pedestrian bridge over South Limestone Street connecting the two structures.
