In 2008, Terracon was retained to provide geotechnical services to help renovate and expand Arrowhead and neighboring Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City. The Arrowhead expansion and renovations included a new four to five-story concrete structure with below grade areas to be added around the existing stadium. The new foundations were drilled piers bearing on rock, and spread footings bearing on rock where possible. The design also included a possible rolling roof to be added in the future. kcICON is a $245-million "interstate connections" project upgrading I-29/35 to six lanes from just north of the Route 210 / Armour Road interchange to Independence Avenue. The project includes an additional southbound lane, numerous on-ramps and off-ramps reconstructed, and several interchanges reconfigured. An "iconic" cable-stayed bridge, expandable to eight lanes and capable of accommodating a future bicycle/pedestrian facility, is the key feature replacing the existing Paseo Bridge.
