Terracon's Jackson office was formerly Aquaterra Engineering, with roots back to 1961. The office, which currently employs a staff of around 30 people, practices geotechnical, environmental, and construction materials engineering and testing. They also specialize in solid waste and landfill engineering services.

Terracon (formerly Aquaterra Engineering) was hired by a local railroad company to conduct a non-intrusive environmental site assessment (Phase I) and determine if hazardous materials were disposed on site. The site consists of a corridor approximately 5,260 feet long by 150 to 1,100 feet wide. The Phase I identified nine areas that warranted additional investigation and Terracon performed a Phase II, Phase III and Phase IV assessment, all of which included subsurface investigations to collect soil and groundwater samples at the site. Terracon was contracted by the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) to perform a geotechnical investigation for a major interstate and highway project located in Marshall County, MS.  The investigation included geotechnical drilling, laboratory testing, and design recommendations.  The project was broken into two phases which included 283 centerline soil borings for the 6.3 miles of new alignment for I-69/I-269, the realignment of access ramps for State Route 309 at the I-69/I-269 interchange, and realignment of Beagle Club Road; and seventeen deep soil borings for the six…

M3A Architects, PLLC, on behalf of the Jackson (Mississippi) Public Schools, retained Terracon to perform geotechnical engineering and environmental services for the new Kirksey Middle School in north Jackson. The scope of the geotechnical investigation for this project included a site reconnaissance, soil borings, laboratory testing, and engineering evaluations and reporting.
