
The Greenville, S.C., office was founded in 1997 as Ground Engineering Solutions and joined Terracon in 2006. Our experienced staff has worked in the upstate South Carolina area and Southeast United States for more than 40 years. Our field technicians hold certifications by ACI, NICET, and ICC and our laboratory is AASHTO accredited. Environmental capabilities include Phase I and II ESAs, asbestos, lead paint, and Brownfields services. Geotechnical capabilities include subsurface explorations, pavement investigations, pressuremeter testing, and in-situ load testing. Construction Materials Testing capabilities include ICC special inspections, soil, concrete, asphalt, and structural steel testing and observation services.

A potential purchaser contracted with Terracon to conduct an environmental Phase I and a Phase II of the soil and groundwater related to historical use of the property. Chlorinated solvents were discovered in the soil and groundwater related to former plating operations and dry cleaning operations from previous tenants or prior owners. The current property owner retained Terracon to assist in assessing the contamination through the Voluntary Cleanup Contract (VCC) program as a responsible party.

The Liberty Bridge is 345 feet long, 12 feet wide and 8 inches thick, the concrete reinforced deck is supported by a single suspension cable. Terracon was chosen by the City of Greenville to work on this project due to our involvement on numerous successful downtown ventures. Terracon provided micropile and foundation inspection services for the bridge abutments and steel masts. Concrete and structural steel inspections were also provided throughout the project.
