The Columbia office opened in 1997, offering geotechnical and construction materials testing services. In 2000, environmental services were added, and in 2002 drilling services were added. Columbia is strategically focused on developing the rural Missouri markets, including providing services to each municipality and county in the region. The Columbia staff has grown to approximately 20 employees.

AmerenUE's Callaway County Nuclear Power Plant was performing a feasibility study for its Construction and Operating License Application (COLA). As part of this permitting process, Rizzo Associates, Inc. selected Terracon to provide geotechnical borings and limited geotechnical engineering on this project. Over 80 borings ranging from depths of 41 to 350 feet (averaged 110 feet) were performed. Drilling was performed over four months using 9 drill rigs and 8 drill crews. Majestic Pointe Condominiums, located on the Lake of the Ozarks, is a planned 241 condominium development. The condominium building features 12-stories of private three to five bedroom condominiums, each with a private deck overlooking the Lake of the Ozarks. Terracon was retained by the client to perform geotechnical engineering and construction materials testing for the Southwest Campus Housing project at the University of Missouri-Columbia. This residential complex replaced Donnelly, Smith and Blair halls at the northeast corner of Providence Road and Stadium Boulevard. Terracon performed a geotechnical services and construction monitoring.
