The Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) developed its South Corridor Light Rail (Blue Line) as the first node in a multi-line system of light rail and commuter rail service. The Blue Line Extension (BLE) is nearly 11 miles long, with 13 stations both elevated and at-grade, and six single-span and eight multi-span bridges, one 300 foot underpass, two 1,000 vehicle parking decks and a vehicle maintenance facility. Terracon's scope of work included obtaining general geotechnical information regarding the subsurface conditions within the areas of the proposed construction through the use of…

Terracon was contracted by the City of Charlotte through a quality-based selection process to provide geotechnical, shear wave velocity profiling, construction materials engineering and testing, and Special Inspections services for the NASCAR® Hall of Fame project. Beginning in July 2006, Terracon performed geotechnical investigations and shear wave velocity profiling for the Hall of Fame and the adjacent NASCAR® Office Tower to evaluate the subsurface conditions and profile of bedrock. Terracon also provided the design for the soil-nail and shotcrete shoring wall and retaining wall…

The Port of Anchorage is in the process of undergoing a 10-year, $500 million expansion. Terracon was retained as the geotechnical consultant to the program manager for the project, Integrated Concepts Research Corporation, a subsidiary to Koniag Services, an Alaska Native American Corporation. The geotechnical exploration phase included planning and supervision of offshore drilling, electric cone penetrometer (CPTU) testing operations, in-situ vane shear, and shear wave velocity testing. Terracon also performed triaxial shear, direct simple shear and cyclic shear testing and numerous…
