Terracon Foundation Awards Grant to the University of North Florida

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Terracon Foundation recently awarded a university grant in the amount of $5,000 to the Univeristy of North Florida (UNF) in support of the UNF College of Computing, Engineering, and Construction (CCEC).

The Terracon Foundation university grant supports graduate-level scholarships, fellowships, purchase of equipment, and similar programs in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, based on employee recommendations.

UNF CCEC provides its students with the highest quality education and professional experiences, to achieve excellence in its teaching, scholarship and service, and to continually enhance its programs through interactions with professional constituents in the community.

Kristophor Linster, EI, LEED AP AB+C, CEI, RRO, from Terracon’s Jacksonville office and UNF alum, championed the grant.

“I am very excited to see the Terracon Foundation partner with my alma mater. I graduated from the College of Computing, Engineering, and Construction and sat in classes with Dr. Hudyma. It is surreal to be able to give back to the university that helped shape my adult life and position me to become a member of the Terracon team. To be able to facilitate the relationship between these two groups has been a pleasure, and I hope to see this continue for years to come,” said Linster.

Mark Tumeo, Ph.D., J.D., P.E., dean of the UNF College of Computing, Engineering, and Construction, proudly accepted the award.

“The continuation of the Terracon Fellowship to the University of North Florida is a very tangible demonstration of Terracon’s support for UNF’s commitment to addressing the unique geotechnical issues we face in the state of Florida and providing support for future generations of geotechnical engineers. We are most grateful for their continued support to our research and educational efforts in geotechnical engineering,” said Dr. Tumeo.

The Terracon Foundation, established in 2008, also provides a broad range of grants to employee-championed community organizations, employee-dependent scholarships, and an annual national partner grant.

Terracon is an employee-owned engineering consulting firm with more than 3,500 employees providing environmental, facilities, geotechnical, and materials services from more than 140 offices in 40 states nationwide. Terracon currently ranks 35th on Engineering News-Record’s List of Top 500 Design Firms. For additional information about Terracon, please visit terracon.com.
