Bracelets Around the World!

Team-Dona_Steve-OWhen Charmaine Haines and Anne Hirschauer, both from the Cincinnati office, learned that two fellow Terracon employees were being affected by cancer, they wanted to help. Dona Dumford, who is the wife of Materials Specialist Chris Dumford, was recently diagnosed with cancer; Steve Vogelsang, senior lab technician and 40-year employee who retired last year, is also battling the disease.

Early in October, Charmaine and Anne launched a fundraising campaign that centered on selling “Steve-O” (as he is affectionately known) and “Team Dona” bracelets. They started by ordering the bracelets online and then offered them for a donation on Facebook. They invited a local deli to sell the bracelets; they offered them at church and then to the staff in the Cincinnati office. The project took off!

Charmaine asked people in the Cincinnati office to take photos with the bracelets as they travelled to different places. Below (top), Harold Widener, field services supervisor, is working on-site in the Bahamas. Pictured in the middle are Cincinnati staff members wearing their bracelets. On the bottom, Jason Hickey, project manager, is on-site performing a dive.
“I would like to see if I can get pictures of people wearing these bracelets all over the world,” said Charmaine.
The donations Anne and Charmaine collect are going directly to the affected individuals.
“I feel that sometimes it just helps to know that others are thinking of you and are willing to lend a helping hand,” said Charmaine. “Here in the Cincinnati office, we are a tight-knit family and have always had the type of culture where we look out for one another as a family and a team. It only makes sense to help the Team Dona and Team Steve-0 members of our ‘family’ as much as we can.”diving
